“In the beginning, God said ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Jesus is the light, and through him, we don’t have to walk in darkness, but instead, have light that leads to life.”

Contrast Church seeks to be a contrasting light shining before others.

Everyone has brokenness, pain, trauma, hurts, questions, fears. We all live with these burdens as we try and navigate through the bigger questions in life. We want everyone to see the light in the dark, clarity in the uncertain, restoration in the brokenness, peace in the suffering, and joy in the mourning.

Our Vision

A narrative echoed throughout the Bible and especially in Matthew 22, is to “love God with all of our being.” To “be with Jesus” simply means to be in a relationship with him, or to follow him. The foundation of being a follower of Jesus is to walk with and learn from him.
“Becoming like him,” or spiritual formation is to simply be more like Jesus— to learn and follow his teachings. Matthew 28:19-20 tells us that we are to “teach and observe” the commandments of Jesus. Becoming like Jesus is to listen to his words, learn from him, and life a lifestyle like his.
Matthew 28:19-20 also says to “Go and make disciples.” Therefore, to “live out” is to go do what Jesus did and would do if he were you. Living out is leaving ourselves and our comforts and living out what Jesus wants us to do in the world. This is his mission to everyone one of his followers.
In John 17, Jesus prays that we would all be unified together and “be one” as a community. The church was created to help followers of Jesus do this together. The church exists to help followers of Jesus pursue relationship, spiritual formation, and mission, together.

Our DNA

We want to be a staff and church saturated and immersed in a deep prayer life and culture so that each person can experience the reviving grace of Jesus and relationship with Him.
Mission and vision will dictate our energy towards the most impactful areas we are called to fight for.
We take the authority of the Bible seriously, while also allowing the Spirit to guide and lead us in worship and life.
Because of the gospel, we are so generous with our resources, time and gifts that some people may question our sanity.
We believe that multiplication is the best way to follow God’s commission and we are dedicated to living it out.

We want to prioritize communities and groups over Sunday gathering in an effort to show our firm belief in the importance of smaller circles doing life together.
We want our neighborhoods and communities to taste the Kingdom of God through our love and actions so that people are able to see tangible glimpses of God’s blessing on Earth.
We believe each person’s story is powerful and God speaks to them and others through it.
We are a church who welcomes the tension and suffering that comes from difficulty in following Jesus well and taking up our cross.
We will live a life that exudes Jesus’ love in our neighbors lives, our spheres of influence, and the community around us.

Our Beliefs and Network

We have been planted from Movement Church and Three Creeks Church, and are all members of the Charis Fellowship network.

Both Movement Church, Three Creeks Church, and Contrast Church are all a part of The Movement Churches Network, which seeks to plant 50 churches in 25 years.
